Dimmer Controls that produce a DMX512 Signal
DMX (512) dims multiple zones of lighting individually or together using one controller. The DMX signal is transmitted by a controller through a three core wire to DMX receivers.
DMX receivers (also known as DMX decoders) are listed in our Amplifiers/Receivers department.
The DMX signal is low voltage and low current, allowing for large installations. The wire daisy chains from one receiver to the next. Each receiver has its own DMX address, so can be controlled individually.
DMX receivers require a low voltage input in order to power lights. The DMX signal simply tells the receiver how much power to supply the lighting.
Single zone controllers can control one or many receivers at the same time.
With a multi zone controller, one or more receivers can be assigned to each zone, so each zone can be controlled individually.
